PALO ALTO, CA. Aug. 13, 2010 – QD Soleil™, today announced that its parent company,
Nanosys, has entered into a strategic alliance with Samsung Electronics. The broad based
partnership will include co-development and licensing of QD Soleil’s seminal IP estate for the
use of nanotechnology in solar.
In addition to equity investment in Nanosys, the Samsung partnership includes funding for the
co-development of specific, nanotechnology based solar devices as well as IP licensing. “With
this partnership, QD Soleil will be able to leverage its significant IP and technology into the next
generation of solar products” said Vijendra Sahi, VP and GM of QD Soleil. “Over the coming
months QD Soleil plans to partner with additional leaders in solar as next generation solar
applications continue to emerge.”
“The breadth of QD Soleil’s solar technology and IP portfolio makes it a perfect compliment to
visionary manufacturers who are looking to enhance their next generation and thin film solar
products,” said Jason Hartlove, Nanosys CEO. “With technology from QD Soleil, thin film solar
panel makers can increase their efficiencies by up to 40% over what they are currently
achieving.”
